Felicia, who has been with the club for just one year, but has helped lead her team to incredible heights, where in 2017 alone, they finished as Champions in the NY City Cup and other major events.
Felicia has been an incredible player to coach, but an even more incredible person,” explained Coach Bustamante. “She is the definition of a leader, working tirelessly to both lead by example and simultaneously connecting with each and everyone one of her teammates to make everyone around her better. I am confident that Flores will become an impact player for BARD, and I cannot wait to watch her in a Raptors uniform.”
The Flores family is very excited to announce that Felicia has verbally committed to join Bard College in the fall of 2018! From the moment we stepped onto the campus last Friday, we knew it was the perfect place for our daughter. Felicia enjoyed learning about the special programs at Bard such as the Distinguished Scientist Scholars Program, extensive research opportunities, senior capstone project, eleven intensive language programs with study abroad, and community involvement. As many of you know, Felicia enjoys healthy eating so she was pleased to hear that Bard has two farms on campus and unique housing options including a Vegan house. Head Coach Bill Kelly is entering his 11th season at Bard College. We appreciated how he took a genuine interest in our daughter as a person and a player. He is a published poet and was looking for well-rounded student-athletes. With Felicia's GPA, Youth-in-Government leadership experience, and other accomplishments, Coach Kelly knew this was a perfect match.
After years of searching for the right fit, Felicia also stated how she felt like she was in good hands throughout the college recruiting process. B’ Elite SC offers many invaluable resources to those who want to take the next step, whether it be soccer or academics,” elaborated Flores. “One of the unique aspects on the club is the focus of education and making sure their athletes are all around good students. Finding the right college for me was a hard journey that took a lot of time and effort, but I was extremely well prepared. My coaches were also great resources, as they were able to contact coaches for me, and recommend schools. In the end, my hard work and sacrifices paid off.”
We've enjoyed touring over 20 schools - small to large, rural to urban, Maine to Miami. It helped us recognize the right fit and a sincere coach. Special thanks to Coach Billy Bustamante for helping Felicia be ready for this opportunity and the B' Elite Soccer Club ladies for their encouragement and support.
B’ Elite Player Development SC wishes Felicia the very best of luck as she enters her next stage in her soccer career, and cannot wait to cheer her on when she joins BARD College for the 2018 season!
